Records distinguish physical navigability from normal commercial access. Traffic counts, security incidents and diplomatic developments are assessed separately so that continued crossings are not treated as evidence of full reopening.

Renewed attacks reverse Strait of Hormuz shipping recovery

Commercial shipping continues through the Strait of Hormuz, but crossings fell sharply in the week to 11 October as attacks on merchant vessels persisted. The Strait remains operational rather than physically closed, while access is severely restricted by security risk and uncertain routing.

High for the direction of traffic and confirmed incidents; transit totals remain preliminary because dark crossings may be identified later
