What happened

On 16 September 2026, Germany’s NDR and WDR reported on a confidential Bundeswehr assessment of Rassvet. According to their account, a planned 288-satellite Rassvet-3 constellation was assessed as likely to reach only limited operational readiness by the end of 2027 because of its comparatively small size. The reporting also discussed potential military communications and unmanned-system applications.
