What happened

On 28 August 2026, Ukrainian foreign minister Andriy Sybiha announced that Kyiv had formally asked the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to exclude Ukraine’s sovereign territory from the declared service areas of Russia’s Rassvet satellite network across relevant frequency bands.
