What happened

On 11 February 2026, Nature published a peer-reviewed study titled “Large-scale quantum communication networks with integrated photonics.” The research explores integrated photonic technology for scaling quantum communication networks. This is an experimental research development and should not be conflated with a new nationwide operational network.

Evidence and limitations

The publication date and study are verified against the journal’s version of record and bibliographic record. Its demonstrated laboratory capabilities do not by themselves establish deployed infrastructure, commercial service or quantum-repeater capability across China. Assessment
